St. Joseph's is all about the importance of sharing our
gifts and talents by integrating the Catholic faith within a strong curriculum.
Through our actions we demonstrate the importance of faith, love, compassion,
forgiveness, education, stewardship, and morality.
As a school, we can fulfill these vocational desires to deepen our children's
faith in the Catholic Church, and be ministers of the gifts we have to offer
the families in the Verde Valley and Sedona. We believe we are called to our
vocations by God and this school was meant to be. God bless Saint Joseph's Catholic
School.
St. Joseph's Mission Statement-
Inspired by Roman Catholic tradition, Saint Joseph’s School provides a Christ-centered environment; offering the highest quality academic education. By emulating the teachings of Jesus Christ, we prepare morally responsible leaders who think critically and value service within the community through a partnership with students, parents and staff.
Traditional Kindergarten through Eight Grade-
First through eighth graders are instructed using a more traditional instruction.
Our catholic faith, guided by our Diocese of Phoenix, provides instruction to
exceed the AZ standards. Our highly qualified teachers, certified by the State
of AZ, are working very hard at instructing to the individuals needs. Most important
is our student to teacher ratio. We are not out to become the largest school,
but to offer a quality faith based education.
This year (2010-11)our student to teacher ratio is sixteen to one. In our lower grades we keep the ratio in math and reading closer to ten to one and provide individual instruction to struggling students. Our best instrument, the IOWA test, shows a steady improvement of twenty-one percent over the last two years, and on average with the other Diocese of Phoenix schools. Our enrollment is also growing, indicating others are seeing the quality of education associated with other Catholic schools.
Faith Based Instruction-
Our students begin and end each day with prayer. Our teachers, as well as Father
Pawel, teach Catholic religious education and Father Pawel instructs our sacramental
preparation. Our students are now involved in the readings, intentions and alter
service at the Immaculate Conception 9:00 daily mass. Over ten percent of our
school are trained alter servers, and assisting with masses at St. John Vianney
and Immaculate Conception.
Discipline-
It is the philosophy of St. Joseph's Catholic School to present an educational
program that is clear, efficient and uncompromising in the standards of excellence.
Discipline is the foundation and basic structure of a high quality educational
process
Our student must wear their uniforms at St. Joseph's Catholic School with respect. They must respect, act responsibly and safely when interacting with adults and each other.
Service-
Our students are addressing service this year through Student Council. Our students
just made a contribution to the Bishops’ Charity and Development Appeal,
sent contributions for the Haiti relief and packages for students in Mexico.
Scholarships Available-
To date St. Joseph's has provided over $200,000 in scholarships. Even in these
difficult times, our parishioners are will to support our school and provide
these valuable scholarships for our children wishing for a faith based education.
Our current enrollment is 78 students. We have built two new classrooms in two years.
