Discipline
-It is the philosophy of St. Joseph's Catholic School to present an educational program that is clear, efficient and uncompromising in the standards of excellence. Discipline is the foundation and basic structure of a high quality educational process. Acceptable and unacceptable behavior, as well as consequences, will be clearly defined.
St. Joseph's strives toward improvement and growth. It is imperative the parish, students, parents, faculty, school board and administration of St. Joseph's Catholic School believe that discipline is vital to promote an environment of student behavior necessary to achieve high academic and moral standards.
A progressive style of discipline will be used by teachers and reinforced in the office. This includes more serious consequences for more serious offenses or reoccurring offenses. Familiarizing students with the policies and consequences will give them clear expectations of acceptable behavior and insure that all children are receiving quality instruction.
Students must observe three rules of conduct: be safe, be respectful and be responsible. The discipline matrix below will be used for minor infractions. Due to our zero tolerance policy more serious offenses could result in suspension or expulsion from school. Our goal is to stop the inappropriate behaviors so teachers can teach and students can learn. This will be the first step to incorporating our policy and defining expectations to students, as well as parents. Positive behaviors will be reinforced and rewarded.
