Third Grade Teacher

My name is Lynne Gibson, and I have been an elementary school teacher at St. Joseph’s for 3 years. I am going to teach 2nd and 3rd grade in the 2009-2010 school year.

Before I came to St. Joseph’s, I was an elementary teacher at Tavasci Elementary, and Dr. Daniel Bright Elementary, both located in Cottonwood. I have taught grades 1st through 5th, so I have learned how to adapt to many ages!

Last summer, my colleague, Jill Barteau, and I put together Vacation Bible School at St. Joseph’s. It was terrific! Everyone had a great time and learned about their faith at the same time!

Last fall, I coached a group of students in an after school running program, called “Kidsrock” which is a program that the P.F. Chang Rock and Roll Marathon in Phoenix, sponsors each year. They had such a good time; we are going to do it again this fall!

I also worked this spring with students needing extra assistance in their academics with an after school-tutoring program. I will also be teaching summer school this summer for those students as well.

Faith based education, small class sizes, and parents who care are the reasons I am here. I have three sons who have also been attending St. Joseph’s for 3 years. Their education is incredibly important to me, so I am so glad they are getting a great foundation in all subjects.
